Howie Casey and The Seniors - Twist At The Top [1961]

homepage

Mersey Beat goes Twist - this is a must have!

This ace sax blower started his long career in Liverpool back in 1959 with Derry & The Seniors. In 1961, he began fronting the Seniors, and the following year his first (and sole) album came out: an explosive mixture of beat, rock 'n' roll & twist.

Danny & The Juniors

It's no big surprise that also "Danny and The Juniors" - one of the top Rock'n'Roll bands of the Americian music history - recorded a few "twisting" songs. Probably a few sides are missing, but who cares, if there are nearly two hours of good old Rock'n'Roll ... again, this is another useless homemade compilation, you can only find here. As usual also the sleeve is homemade.

Colin Hodgkinson - The Bottom Line [1998]

… he has worked with Chris Rea, The Eric Delaney Band, Back Door (of which he was co-founder), Alexis Korner, Whitesnake, Jon Lord, Jan Hammer, Paul Butterfield, The Spencer Davis Group, Pete York, and The Electric Blues Duo, as well as with Ian "Stu" Stewart's boogie-woogie band, Rocket 88. In 2007 Hodgkinson became a member of The British Blues Quintet, along with Zoot Money, Maggie Bell, Miller Anderson and Colin Allen) of The British Blues Quintet.

Hodgkinson is a musician who has developed a left-hander bass technique which can replace both lead and rhythm guitar if necessary, (as exemplified by his work with the jazz-rock trio Back Door - line-up: saxophone, bass, drums). A typical gig involving Hodgkinson will be a solo slot in which he will render a bass and vocals only rendition of a classic blues song, a particular favourite being his take on Jesse Fuller's "San Francisco Bay Blues." This track was included in his solo album The Bottom Line, issued in 1998, which consists mostly of bass solos.

11 tracks in a pretty unique style - no problem if you don't like it, this album will remain one of my favs ...

(if you expect a Muddy Waters like blues album - you're completely WRONG)

The Other Chet Atkins [1960] (rerelease 90s)

When this album was recorded in 1960, Chet Atkins was already a star, or better a living legend. It's unknown why this album was recorded, was it Chet's own wish to record an all-acoustic spanish guitar album - or was it the record company who asked Chet. For sure it has not reached high sales and for more than 30 years, until it's rerelease, this album was almost lost.

Skull Surfers [Boston]

If you hear the name "Skull Surfer" you might expect something mixed up with Punkrock, Psychobilly or Rockabilly. Well this band from Boston is playing pure Surf ...

I think this band isn't active anymore, and there's no offical release available.

yep - and another Mustang album (1964)

first of all thanks to http://questionmalc.blogspot.com/ for ripping this album.
I thought it might be helpful for some people, especially for myself, to add a small picture and to rewrite the taggings.
This album was a collaboration between Gary S. Paxton & Gary Usher. After the Mustang launch on April 17th 1964, everybody wants to be the first to buy this car, roundabout 22.000 orders were counted the first day. And also the [commercial] music industry was not lazy. This is the result: a (too) fast produced album, with some rerecordings and fast written songs, but already released in May 1964. Today it's a rarity album.

The band, this time they were called "The Road Runners", proven is only the participation of Paxton/Usher, but maybe there was also:
Mike Deasy Sr. (Guitar), Jerry Scheff (Bass), Charlie Casper, Dave Scheibach, Jerry Schillinger, John Youngblood

This is a vinyl-rip, without any attempt to clean scratches and surface noise!
at 128KB - take it or leave it!

The Zip-Codes - Mustang! (1964)

This album was conceived by Gary S. Paxton, a known music producer and musician, short after the Ford Company launched their Mustang in April 1964.
Issued under the name "The Zip-Codes"[just another band of studio musicians acquired to record this LP ]

featuring:
Leon Russell (piano), Gary S. Paxton (bass), Sonny Curtis (guitar), Jerry McKenzie (drums) and James Burton (guitar) and probably others ... it's not known how many sessions were played & taped.
Vocals (arranged by Bob Zwirn):
Gary S. Paxton, Buzz Cason & The Eligibles (lead by Ron Hicklin).
Produced by Buzz Cason.
Engineers: Charles Underwood & Eddie Brackett

«On this Mustang song, there was a car revving. That was recorded in a little alley right out behind Paxton's studio. We backed my Volkswagen in there and although it was supposed to be a Mustang, here I was revving this four-banger Volkswagen while they taped the sound with a microphon extension. It was a completely different sound; an air cooled engine.»
(The title of this song is Mustang Rumble ...)

Apache

Recorded 1989 in London and released as UK only Lp. In 1990 released on cd as package with the second part of the Pathway Sesssions (a LP called Wild Side Of The City Lights) and a bonus track. Followed by another rerelease, with complete different artwork - and without bonus track. They say it was remastered again, but is there any difference? Guitars and (not all) vocals by Link, all other instruments (!) and some vocals by Bruce Brand (f.e. The Headcoats/The Milkshakes)

Today we have Link's 81st birthday ... burn a candle and listen to his songs.

This link disappears the next days! - until 5th of November
